School, class & parent codes

Issue, approve, redeem, and revoke the correct kind of code.

Updated October 4, 2026

Choose the right code

A school signup code grants student or teacher membership. A student class code also enrolls the user in a specific class. A parent linking code connects a verified parent to one child. Signup codes cannot grant administrator or owner roles, change an existing role, or reactivate disabled access.

Issue school and class codes

School and district owners/administrators use People & parents → School & class signup codes.

  1. Choose the approved school and student or teacher role. For students, optionally select a school class.
  2. Set expiry from 1–30 days and maximum users from 1–500.
  3. Choose Approve & create access code. Save the full revealed code now; it is displayed only once.
  4. Share the code securely with intended users. Teacher codes should go only to verified staff.
  5. Review code status, usage, and expiry. Approve a teacher-requested pending code or Revoke a code that should no longer work.

Teacher requests and redemption

Teachers request student codes for their assigned class from Classes. An administrator must approve the pending code before use. New users enter an approved code at signup; activation happens after email confirmation. Existing confirmed users use Join a school → Activate school access. Codes expire, fill at their user limit, or can be revoked. Revocation does not remove memberships already granted. Pausing manual membership requests does not revoke codes.

Parent links

An administrator uses People & parents → Link a parent to a child, selects the student, and generates a code. Save and share it securely with the verified guardian. The code is single-use and expires in 48 hours. The parent redeems it in Family learning or Settings. Use a separate code for each child.

Your verified membership determines access. Instructions describe the current platform; school policies may add requirements.
